This beautiful and intricate Giraffe mixed media piece (20x16) is titled after Dr. Seuss's book "And To Think I Saw it on Mulberry Street". I used various papers, including handmade variations for the background. A mixture of resin and glitter was then poured over the top. The oil painted giraffes were then attached to the background with details such as eyelashes were hand painted. Two more layers of resin were then added over the entire front of the piece to protect the artwork from damage and UV fading. Art Resin was used so there will be no yellowing of the resin over time.
Decorative paper was then attached to the sides and sealed with Gloss Varnish. The completed artwork was then placed in a hand painted/varnished floating frame, so a small amount of the decorative edge shows. "Mulberry Street" to 43 hours to complete and this piece is SO much more beautiful in person, as you can see the various levels and dimensions created in this lovely piece and it is SO sparkly!
